Salesforce Permissions Required to Install ProntoForms

This topic describes why you might get an error when you install the ProntoForms package from Salesforce AppExchange. You must have the Change Dashboard Colors permission assigned to you in Salesforce.

Problem

When you install the ProntoForms package from Salesforce AppExchange, you might get the following message:

“Error: This app can’t be installed. User doesn’t have permission (changeDashboardColors) to create dashboard with colors.”

Cause

You don’t have the Change Dashboard Colors permission assigned to you in your Salesforce account.

Solution

Create a new permission set in Salesforce, enable the Change Dashboard Colors permission, and then assign the set to your account.

Create a Salesforce permission set

1. Go to the Permission Sets page, and then select New. You can use the quick search or go to Administration > Users > Permission Sets.

   

   Result: The system displays the Create page.

2. Enter a Label and an API Name, select a Permission Set License, and then select Save.

   

   Result: The system displays the settings page for your new permission set.

3. In the System section, select System Permissions.

   

   Result: The system displays the System Permissions page.

4. Select Edit.

   

5. Select the Change Dashboard Colors permission.

   

6. Select Save.

   

   Result: The system prompts you to confirm your changes.

7. Select Save to confirm your changes.

   Result: The Change Dashboard Colors permission is enabled in the permission set.

Assign the permission set

1. On the System Permissions page, select Manage Assignments.

   

   Result: The system displays the Assigned Users page.

2. Select Add Assignments.

   

   Result: The system displays a list of users.

3. Select yourself and other required users, and then select Assign.

   

   Result: The system displays a list of the assigned users.

4. Select Done.

   

   Result: Users with the Change Dashboard Colors permission can install the ProntoForms package.
